2020 Summer Music Camps

Summer is just around the corner and there are many great summer music camps in the  area. The following is a list provided by the JAMS Music Department:


Band and Orchestra

SPS Summer Music, All-City Band & Junior All-City Band

Three weeks, tbd.  9 a.m. to noon, Jane Addams Middle School. Best for students who are entering 6th grade or have completed Intermediate Band or Orchestra; the All-City Bands are marching bands that perform in parades around the region. Super-fun! 

Music During Summer Break

SYSO Summer Music

Shorecrest High School: July 6-17, 9 a.m. – 12:10 p.m. or Newport High School, July 13-24, 9 a.m. to 12:10 p.m. Best for students who have completed at least Junior Band or Orchestra. Saxophones not eligible. Highly recommended. https://syso.org/programs/summer-music/

Seattle Saxophone Institute

July 20-23 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Roosevelt High School (Grades 7-9); July 27-30, 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. (Grades 9-12) Not just jazz! Specialists focused on all aspects of sax playing. http://www.seattlesaxinstitute.com/


Jazz:

Jazz at Cornish

July 13-18, 9 a.m-4 p.m. Small combo work with low student-instructor ratio, emphasis on improvisation and music theory.

Shoreline Jazz Camp

August 10-14, 9 a.m.–3 p.m., Shorecrest High School. Good for students with some jazz background but less improvisation experience as well as those comfortable improvising. Highly recommended.  http://www.shorelinearts.net/event-program/10051/
