JAMS Music Ensembles Wow at Silverwood

JAMS’ Senior Band, Senior Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, and Intermediate Choir all attended the Silverwood Music in the Parks Festival in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho over the weekend of May 20-22. In what is beginning to be a pattern for JAMS Music, the groups were recognized for their outstanding performances.

Although they did not take part in the competitive aspect of the festival, all of the ensembles won trophies acknowledging their superior musicianship.

Best of all, JAMS won the Esprit de Corps trophy, which is awarded to the school that displays outstanding citizenship. According the Music in the Parks, this award is presented to “students … who demonstrated proper social behavior as well as musical behavior/encouragement. They possess the qualities of highly successful people who are sensitive to the feelings of others and applaud accomplishments no matter if by one’s own school or another school. Evaluation has taken place from arrival at the festival site to the awards presentation. All schools are eligible for this award, but only one group will have the honor of taking this trophy with them back to their school.”

We are all extremely proud of our students for their musical skill and for being such great ambassadors for their school and their community.

Special thanks go to Deb Schaff, Emily Schaefer, Alex Gagiu, and Reshard Radford for their leadership and their infinite musical talents showered upon our children. Finally, thank you to all of the parents who chaperoned; these trips are not possible without your help.
